Sunrise Kindergarten is a non profit children’s centre which provides a range of carefully planned play-based programs to meet the needs of children in the 3 to 5 age group. The educational philosophy of Sunrise recognises the importance of learning respect and love for all. It is called Neo-Humanism. Neo-Humanism expands the underlying spirit of humanism, which is love for fellow beings to encompass love of all the creation as well as a realisation of the interconnectedness of all aspects within it.

We develop the feeling of love and connectedness from early childhood through our academic, physical and spiritual education within a supportive and caring learning environment.
The Circle of love
Is the circle that brings us together with the idea of love through songs, story telling, dances, meditation, visualisations and yoga. Our children love morning circles, this is the time they connect with each other with an open heart to receive and give love to their friends and educators.
We have been one of the oldest preschools in North Fitzroy since 1993 and Thornbury since 2016.

Sunrise is a really special place and community. Both of our kids have blossomed in their time at Sunrise. There is a feeling of warmth and calm there and the kids are sohappy. The educators are incredible, many have been there for a really long time so they are very knowledgeable and expert with the individual kids and their needs. There is a lot of music and making which our kids loved. We love the philosophy based around love and respect for all things, and that the kids are learning meditation and yoga so young. The daily walks also encourage the kids to feel part of the community and keep them curious and engaged. It’s a very happy place!
